Saturday was a tale of two teams inside Romano Gymnasium, as the #23 UMD men’s basketball team fell to Minot State, 85-69, while the UMD women’s basketball team bested Minot State 54-50.

On the men’s side, a 10 point halftime deficit was less than ideal, but a strong second half push would make the game interesting with around 10 minutes left in the game.

The Bulldogs couldn’t get anything to fall in that time frame though, as they fell victim to Minot State’s defensive prowess.

Joshua Brown and Charlie Katona were bright spots for UMD, scoring 18 points each.

On the women’s side, it was Lexi Karge who led the charge with 17 points, with the majority of them coming in the first quarter, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

The Bulldogs were matched on the offensive end, but their defense is what put them over the top, tallying 14 forced turnovers.

The UMD men’s team will look to bounce back against St. Cloud State next Saturday at 1 p.m. while the women’s team will face St. Cloud State next Saturday at 3 p.m.
