In 2004, organizers of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon dealt with some of the questions the 2024 board did: Will there be enough snow to have a race?

Twenty years ago, the race was moved from January to March. There was plenty of snow on the ground for the 22nd running.

The 2024 race was canceled entirely, so the 40th running will not happen until 2025.
