It’s called the Duluth Sport Show, but Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel might be the main attraction.

“So she is a 4-year-old rescue. Actually, all of our squirrels are rescues,” Twiggy’s owner, Chuck Best, said. “And she is Twiggy No. 10 currently.”

She’ll use her waterskiing abilities to put on several shows every day at the Sport Show.

“Every show is kind of different, so depending on the show you’re at, some days she’ll stay on the waterskis, some days she’s off the waterskis,” Best said. “And you’ll have to come to the show to see that.”

Twiggy also promotes water safety, so she’ll be wearing a rodent-sized life jacket during her shows in the Lake Superior Ballroom. The pool is heated for her.

She starts her training on skis on dry land.

“Once she’s comfortable standing on them, we will go in the pool,” Toni Tedesco, another Twiggy trainer, said. “We’ll put her on the skis, and then we start walking with her. When she’s content with that, then we step away and let her try doing one lap by herself.”

There is a meet-and-greet with Twiggy after each show. For $5, people can take photos with her.
