Ken Buehler showcases a historic presidential telegraph
Ken Buehler swings by to show us a historic telegraph used by President Calvin Coolidge’s team.
The four devices are the olden-day version of the satchel the President travels with that contains nuclear codes.
Buhler says they would travel with the device just in case of an emergency, saying they would plan for everything.
The telegraph technology cam with Coolidge as he visited the Northland all those years ago. He traveled to see the Hull Rust Mine in Hibbing.
Ken Buhler says, “He became the first President to ever visit the Iron Range so it was a big deal the US Steel was able to put this together [the trip].”
A telegraph at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum has a presidential history dating all the way back to president Calvin Coolidge's visit to Hibbing.
And the team at Lake Superior Railroad Museum is grateful to have a piece of presidential history in their collection.
