In Otter News: Feeding Malkia the lion

Malkia's food is a ground beef made up of all different parts of an animal and presented in a way that simulates her lunch in the wild.

Malkia the lion normally eats a Nebraskan brand meat, which is a meet that is specially ground up and has all the parts of the animal in it. Plus there is added nutrients and minerals that are specifically for big cats.

The zoo staff sets up her dinners in a way that gives Malkia the most enrichment possible. The goal is to simulate the natural behaviors of a lion. That means they want to see her pounce, jump, chew, and all the things that she would be doing in the wild.
