Every year for their birthday, the Great Lakes Aquarium otters get an ice cake.

But this year, Agate and Ore got a bonus cake in honor of The Lift’s 1st birthday.

“I made them a special cake for today,” Natalie Riemer, a senior animal care specialist, said. “It is a miniature Lift Bridge made out of silversides and a little piece of capelin.”

She put it on a raft in the otter exhibit, then let the 10-year-old sisters loose to snatch up the fish. The snacks were gone in a matter of minutes.
