Michael Davis, Director of Culinary Operations at New Perspective Senior Living, says dining is one of the most important social activities of the day at any senior living community.

And making sure that each facility has great-tasting, nutritious food is one way to create a better experience for those in senior living.

“It’s a personal challenge of mine and to our team to come up with new ways of preparing existing favorites,” says Davis.

Some of the recent examples that the New Perspectives’ culinary team has created include: Open-Faced Sandwich on Ciabatta, Tex-Mex Sloppy Joe Bake, Pork Shanks With Apricot Sauce, and Beef Short Ribs.

Michael says when touring a senior living facility to ask them about their facility’s food programs, including:

  • Dining hours
  • The nutritional value of the food
  • Whether the facility seeks feedback from residents on food
  • The variety of meal options
