The Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance is shining a light on ovarian cancer in the Northland by hosting their annual Light Duluth Teal Gala. It’s coming up on September 24th.

Survivors, families, and friends will gather together to celebrate hope, and hear the latest about advances in research.

MOCA has raised more than $10 million dollars to fund critical research for an early detection test, better treatments, and a cure.

Kris Greer, a Duluth native and survivor herself, is the MOCA Board Chair, and shared that the night means so much.

“I just love that evening. The gala. We get together with survivors, we support them, we encourage them. And we just have a really wonderful evening. Together, we create community,” Greer said..

Landmarks around Duluth will also be lit teal that weekend. “We are raising awareness. We are making a difference. You know, just the teal color itself, the awareness color is now recognizable. Oh, that is ovarian cancer awareness. And, you know, we are saving lives,” Greer added.

If you have any of these subtle symptoms for more than two weeks, contact your doctor:

  1. Bloating 2. Pelvic or abdominal pain 3) Difficulty eating/feeling full quickly 4) Urinary symptoms
