Tech Bytes: Meta new Twitter-like app

A social media clone war. Facebook’s parent company Meta is looking to take on Twitter in the wake of Elon Musk’s rocky takeover. The new competitor is called Threads and focuses on public conversations. The app uses your Instagram login and is set to launch Thursday.

Twitter has launched a new version of Tweetdeck, which helps monitor other user’s content. The previous version was free. But Twitter says the new version will only be for verified users, who pay $8 per month. The change takes effect in about a month.

And finally, a price hike at Tidal. The music streaming service is increasing the cost of its base Hi-Fi subscription by a dollar to $11/month.The family plan is jumping to $17. The move follows similar price bumps at other streamers including Apple Music.
