Barry Bigelow from Great Waters Financial has tips to navigate the different financial perspectives around the dinner table and start the conversation. 

Barry explains that even though talking about money at the dinner table feels taboo, there are reasons why talking about it can be good.

He says waiting until a health or financial emergency to discuss family finances is too late and can turn into a costly mistake. 

He also says, it’s crucial to enter these conversations with an understanding of the different money perspectives people have. We talk with people about their finances every day, and we find that people fall into one of four perspectives that are usually shaped by their upbringing and life experiences.
