Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association awards scholarships to St. Louis County students

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, two students from St. Louis County have earned $2,000 scholarships from the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association. Andrew Shamberger and Nils DeRemee were two of the 16 winners to receive a $2,000 scholarship to help with the cost of education as the move closer to having careers in law enforcement.

Duluth resident Andrew Shamberger is attending Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College and plans to graduate this summer from the law enforcement program. He is also a community service officer with the Duluth Police Department.

Nils DeRemee from Ely will graduate from St. Mary’s University in Spring 2024 with a major in Criminal Justice. In the summer of 2023, he interned with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Gordon Ramsey presented Shamberger and DeRemee with the $2,000 checks. Additional information about scholarships and the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association can be found at mnsheriffs.org.
