Minnesota DNR Commissioner highlights new funding for state parks

The Minnesota DNR recently received $149.9 Million dollars in funding for their Get out MORE campaign to improve all aspects of state parks and trails. The commissioner of the DNR talked with Good Morning Northland anchor Nyah Adams to discuss how the funding will be used.

The Minnesota DNR recently received $149.9 Million dollars in funding for their Get out MORE campaign to improve all aspects of state parks and trails.

The commissioner of the DNR, Sarah Strommen, talked with Good Morning Northland anchor Nyah Adams to discuss how the funding will be used.

“It’s a once in a generation opportunity,” said Strommen. “We have not seen this level of of investment for a long time and what we know is that our outdoor experiences that we desire as Minnesotans are different than they were a generation ago.”

The plan is to invest $9.5 million into revitalizing camping and related infrastructure and $60 million into enhancing fisheries and fishery infrastructure.

Strommen also said investments will be made to ensure Minnesotans of all abilities will be able to enjoy the state’s recreation system.
