Hundreds of crashes have been reported in the last two days, but what to do after a crash is critical to keeping everyone safe. The Minnesota State Patrol has safety reminders for drivers.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported more than 560 crashes. MNDOT reminds drivers to slow down. They say snow plows will be out in full force over the next couple of days.

They say, if you spin out, it is important to get your vehicle off to the shoulder if you can, but stay in your vehicle with your seatbelt on in case someone is not paying attention. When you get to the shoulder, dial 911 and a state trooper will help get you off the roadway safely.

The state patrol is seeing an increase in fatal crashes within the last few years, they are saying high speeds are to blame. Authorities are urging drivers to slow down and increase your following distance.
