Duluth Art Institute gives update on upcoming plans and events

Duluth Art Institute to move spaces by May

Christina Woods and Robin Washington joined us to discuss an upcoming event and classes available at the Duluth Art Institute.

The Duluth Art Institute (DAI) is looking for a new space in town. Christina Woods and Robin Washington joined Good Morning Northland to give an update on their progress on the search and what events are coming up for the Institute.

The Institute has two locations. One is located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood where artists can rent studio space and where they also host a number of classes. The other location is within the St. Louis County Depot where their galleries and administrative offices are located. In May, the DAI will be moving out of the Depot.

The DAI also has a number of classes for anyone who wants to join from beginning artists who are looking for a new outlet to professional artists looking to advance their career. They have a few open studios that happen during the day as well as a new Wednesday evening open studio. For specific classes they have youth classes, adult classes, ceramics, uh pottery, drawing, painting, collage, and more.

On Thursday, February 29th, the DAI will host Minnesota artist and 2022 Guggenheim Fellow Ta-coumba T. Aiken for a reception, artist talk, and poetry book launch. This is a free event open to the public where you can listen to the artist and find out more about what the Duluth Art Institute has to offer.

Head to the DAI website for upcoming events and how you can support the Institute in the future.
