Wrapping up the school year with Essentia’s Fit-n-Fun Run

Elementary students from ISD 709 are getting the chance to celebrate the end of the school year by running a quarter mile lap around the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Malosky Stadium during this year’s annual Essentia’s Fit-n-Fun Run.

The event is a collaboration between the Duluth Public Schools district and Grandma’s Marathon and has been running every year in May for the past sixteen years. This year’s event runs from May 14 through May 15.

“It’s just and activity and event to get kids excited about running and being physically active,” said Erika Drengler, P.E. Content Specialist for the Duluth School District.

Kids also can meet with athletes from UMD’s track and field team along with members of the UMD dance team.

Each student will receive a free ribbon and commemorative shirt as they cross the finish line.
