Name released in fatal accident on W Skyline Parkway

UPDATE: Duluth Police have identified the victim in the pedestrian accident on W Skyline Parkway to be 70-year-old Kenneth Bickel of Duluth. Bickel died Tuesday afternoon while walking on W Skyline Parkway and W 5th Street.

STORY: A man is dead following an accident on W Skyline Parkway and W 5th Street on Tuesday afternoon. According to Duluth Police, officers responded to the area at approximately 3:20 p.m. on a report of a man who was hit by a vehicle while walking.

Authorities say the victim was taken by Mayo Ambulance to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The initial report from Duluth Police says the driver of the vehicle was heading westbound and struck the man. Authorities had closed a portion of W Skyline following the accident as the investigation was underway.

Police say the driver did not appear to be impaired at the time of the accident. This remaines an active investigation.
