U.S. Secretary of Energy will visit Heliene & Nexamp on Aug. 30th

U.S. Secretary of Energy, Jennifer M. Granholm, will travel to Minnesota on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023. Secretary Granholm will be highlighting President Biden’s Investing in America agenda.

The agenda’s focus is new economic opportunities, lowering energy costs and utility bills for the Americans. Also the plan will try and ensure every community benefits from the nation’s historic transition to a clean energy future. 

In Mount Iron, Secretary Granholm will join U.S. Senator Tina Smith (MN) and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan for tour at a solar manufacturing facility. They will commemorate a new partnership between Heliene and Nexamp.

Secretary Granholm and Senator Smith will also travel to Duluth and meet with the owner of a weatherized home. They will have a conversation on the cost saving and health benefits, of energy conservation upgrades and weatherization improvements. 

Finally, Secretary Granholm and Senator Smith will conclude the trip with a tour of the Lincoln Park Solar Garden. The community solar project provides low-cost electricity to transitional housing units for local veterans and other community members in need. 

In St. Louis County, 33% of the electric power generation workforce was in wind, solar, and hydroelectric, and over 1200 workers were employed in energy efficiency. Minnesota’s ambitious statewide goal of 100% carbon-free electricity by 2040.
