Tryouts coming up for Duluth Harbor Monsters Cheer Team

Harbor Monsters seeking people to try out for their cheer team

Try out soon for the Duluth Harbor Monsters Cheer Team.

Duluth’s first Arena League football team needs a cheer team.

So there are tryouts coming up to pull together a group that can help energize the crowds at the Duluth Harbor Monsters games.

“We’re going to have a mix, of dance and stunting and tumbling,” explained Maddie Walters, the cheer coach. “We’re really excited about it.” She used to cheer at UMD.

The assistant coach, Mariah Lyscio, used to cheer for the Minnesota Vikings.

“If you have a love for dance and energy and a commitment to Duluth, give the tryout a chance,” Lyscio said.

You do have to be 18 years or older. The goal is to get a group of 8-10 people.

The first home game is May 25th. Cheerleaders would perform at all the home games, and would be considered professional cheerleaders as the Harbor Monsters are considered professional as well. You’d get paid for each game.

Tryouts are April 5th at UMD, but you need to register ahead of time.
