Superior Fire Department helps spread holiday cheer with annual toy drive

The Superior Fire Department hosted their annual toy drive over the weekend. They partnered with several local businesses such as the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots to organize city-wide donation drop-off locations. Following the collection period, the toys were brought back to the Fire Department’s headquarters for distribution.

Event organizers turned the station into a holiday market where community members could come and pick out gifts and toys for their family members. “We’ve set up a store so that the participants can walk around and look through the toys and pick something best for their kid,” said John Lundberg, of the Superior Fire Department. “We just want to get toys out to the kids, you know, ones they’ll use and enjoy. We hope they have a merry Christmas.”

Lundberg also noted that the toy drive dates back to 1906, when local fire fighters would gather and repair toys for children in the Superior community. Since then, their efforts have grown into a much larger, more community-driven toy drive event.
