A $45,000 check is now in the hands of the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids. It’s enough to cover the rest of the money to buy the land right next door to the museum.

Superior Choice Credit Union stepped up and donated the funds. The big check exchanged hands on Monday morning.

The museum had wanted to purchase the land next to them, but needed to raise $125,000.

They got to about $65,000, but needed to fill that gap.

Superior Choice heard about their need, and decided to fill it.

Tim Foster, CEO and President, said, “It’s one of those things that credit unions are always trying to make an impact on the community. And here we could make a quick impact, and really help something that helps with tourism and children’s education. For us, it’s not just a donation. It’s also about financial literacy.”

The museum’s executive director, Janie Heitz, said she still feels like she’s in shock, but in a good way.

Superior Choice has nine branches across northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.
