St. Luke’s started phase II of their Health Forward Initiative. They broke ground on their latest expansion Thursday afternoon.

“We’re excited to celebrate this historic moment for St. Luke’s and the great things it means for our patients and staff,” St. Luke’s Co-President/CEO & CMO Dr. Nick Van Deelen said. “We’re proud to be making an investment in our community that’s being done with a thoughtful, economical and sustainable approach. We put a lot of planning into this so that we use our resources in the most responsible, impactful ways.”

This includes both a new intensive care unit and a new cardiac care floor, which means patients will get their own private rooms.

Dr. Scott Mikesell describes this addition as a “one stop shop” for cardiac care, saying, “From my perspective, it’s all about efficiency and proximity to care.”

The ICU has moved closer to the emergency room. So a patient needing this care, will only need to go up to the 6th floor and stay in the same building.

The parking ramp portion of the project will expand on-campus parking, providing 323 spaces total when completed next Spring.

Erdman is leading construction and design on the project. Construction for the parking ramp is expected to be finished in March 2024. The new inpatient units are expected to be complete by the end of 2024.
