The shelves at CHUM have been leaner these days, thanks to inflation and more people in need.

So Project Joy stepped up, once again, to help.

The non-profit worked with Upper Lakes Foods to bring a truckload of food to the food shelf on Friday.

Project Joy began nearly 11 years ago, in honor of Duluth Hall of Famer, Patrick Plys.

“Our saying has always been choosing joy, spreading love, ending hunger. Food insecurity has been a big passion project for us, as a family,” Laura Plys said.

Project Joy also donated $10,000 to CHUM earlier this year. At the same time, they donated $10,000 each to Union Gospel Mission and the Duluth Area YMCA, for their food programs.
