Drivers may start noticing hundreds of new signs along Highway 53.

MnDOT is wrapping up a sign replacement project from International Falls to Hermantown.

Some of the signs show new information, like which intersection is ahead.

They meet state standards for what is required about signage.

Margie Nelson, from MnDOT Public Affairs, told us, “As a part of the process, our traffic engineers assess what information needs to be conveyed. These projects don’t come around very often. So we are very intentional. And there are 100s of signs.”

Nelson said that they’ve also replaced signs along Highway 61 recently. Highway 11 is coming up.
