Motorcyclist airlifted after crash, driver who left the scene arrested

A man driving a motorcycle Tuesday afternoon was life flighted to a hospital after a crash with a pickup truck.

According to the Pine County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were called to 560th Street and Forest Boulevard south of Pine City around 5:15 p.m.

A press release says deputies found an injured motorcyclist who was later flown to Regions Hospital.

Witnesses told them the pickup involved in the crash left the scene. A description led deputies to the driver. As they headed to his address, they reportedly learned he was on his way to the sheriff’s office to turn himself in.

The 40-year-old was arrested and booked into the Pine County Jail pending charges.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Pine City Fire Department, Essentia Ambulance, and Lifelink also responded.

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office said the motorcycle driver’s injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
