Saturday morning an apartment fire broke out on the 600th block of east third street in the Hillside Neighborhood. That fire killed two people, injured two firefighters and left many displaced.

Natasha Lindberg and her 3-year-old daughter are two people that say now they have “nothing left” after the fire.

“I woke up, I didn’t know what it was, I was panicking, I could smell smoke. So I grabbed the baby and got out as fast as I could,” says Natasha.

She says with assistance from the Salvation Army here and her daughter were put up in a hotel. And her sister helped create a GoFundMe page for her. You can find that link here.

Natasha says that the fire destroyed everything from pictures, to clothing, to important documents like their social security cards and birth certificates. She says even though she got out safe it was hard to watch the apartment on fire.

“I just, I cried. You stand there and watch your things, everything that you have, burn.”
