Miijim chef named James Beard Emerging Chef semifinalist
Bryce Stevenson, the chef and founder of Miijim on Madeline Island, was named a semifinalist for the James Beard Emerging Chef award.
Miijim is an indigenous restaurant with French flair in La Pointe, Wis., on Madeline Island. It opened in May 2023.
Stevenson, from the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, is one of 20 finalists in his category.
The James Beard Foundation will announce the nominees on April 3 and the winners at an awards ceremony in June.
Miijim is closed for the winter, but Stevenson plans to reopen by May.
