A special moment at Mesabi Fit on Thursday, with a check presentation.

Essentia Health donated $25,000 to help fund the renovations of the pool area.

Mesabi Fit all started with a group of passionate people who wanted to keep a fitness center open after the YMCA in Mt. Iron closed its doors.

They’ve been open now since January 8th, with a grand opening planned for February 5th.

“We put a lot of heart and soul into making this a place where the community can come and congregate,” shared Ricardo Contreras, the Facility Manager.

Kids have been loving the Hygge Play Studio, which families can enjoy. And at certain times, kids can be dropped off there while their caregivers work out.

Marie Sams, the Child and Family Program Manager, said, “This has been a long time vision for me, as the mother of young children. It’s open ended play. And we hope people are delighted with the simplicity of it.”
