Mesabi Fit Coalition aims to keep recreation opportunities going on the Range

After the recent announcement that the Mesabi Family YMCA is dissolving, a group of former YMCA members, area non-profits and community leaders began meeting to discuss potential use of the facility for continued recreation by the community.

This group is now the Mesabi Fit Coalition, a non-profit organization. The Mesabi Fit Coalition is open to information to build a business plan for the facility going forward.

Their statement said this may include partnering with other organizations with interests that complement their own.

While waiting for the facility to become available for sale or transfer of ownership, the Coalition is committed to developing a responsible and realistic plan on behalf of this community—a plan that ensures seniors can have the benefits of strength-building low-impact water aerobics, all kids have a chance to learn to swim, and there are new opportunities for family recreation.

The Mesabi Fit Coalition asks all former Y members, volunteers and other interested people to support the Coalition by going to the webpage https://mesabifitcoalition.squarespace.com/ and filling out a petition.

By signing the petition, individuals are showing support of the Coalition mission and ensuring their
voice is counted in the campaign to save this facility for use by the entire community.
