Looking for a new coffee place? 2540 Coffee House opens soon
Over in Superior, Wisconsin, you’ve might have looked at a new coffee shop on Belknap street. is opening The 2540 Coffee House will be opening on the weekend of July 1st. However, 2540 Coffee House is not your your typical coffee place. Part of their proceeds will be supporting the Ruth House and other local ministries in the Twin Ports area.
Christyna Foster, the Business Manager of 2540 Coffee House said the numbers are 25 and 40 hold special value. “2540 comes from Matthew 25, verse 40. The Ruth House Ministries has always operated on the basis of Matthew 31 through 40. But 40 is the most important verse,” Foster said. “Basically it’s Jesus saying, whatever you do for the least of my brothers and sisters, you do for me as well. And so we always try to remember that in everything that we do.”
The Ruth House is a superior based organization dedicated to meeting all kinds of needs in their community. Although sometimes these needs require even more money than the donations that come into the organization. Jack Swonger, the Pastor for the Ruth House, asked Christyna’s help with getting more funds for their community efforts.
“We were kind of just praying for a solution to that issue. And Jack came to me one day and said, How do you feel about opening a coffee shop? And right away I said, yes, because my answer is always yes when it comes to serving this community and the Lord. I didn’t know what that looked like yet, but I agreed to it,” Foster said.
The entire experience, from the initial idea to the grand opening, for Foster she said it’s been a short, but exciting three months. “Opening the coffeehouse was a way for us to still minister within the community through a small business that would add revenue, that would help support the ministry,” Foster said.
However, 2540 Coffee House will be selling more than hot and cold drinks. There will also be pastries and baked goods, but also holistic medicine and CBD oils.
“We’re doing a little grand opening celebration here Saturday beginning at 9am, and it’ll run until 3pm. The Ruth House Ministry has been kind enough to bring their food truck, so we’ll have free hot dogs and brats. We also have a stock car coming. That’s fun for the kids and probably the dads, too. And some fun prizes and things and a chance to get some free cups of coffee cards, we’ll be walking around with those. So just a really fun family event. It’s supposed to be a beautiful day Saturday. So we’re looking forward to it.” Foster said.
