Letters sent out to former students, employees of school districts about a data breach

The Arrowhead Regional Computing Consortium is warning residents in the Northland of a possible data breach.

Many folks across the Northland are receiving letters about a data breach.

It’s from the Arrowhead Regional Computing Consortium, which helps school districts with payroll and student information systems. They have an office in Hermantown.

The ARCC said that they had a “security incident” that resulted in disruption to certain systems. This was back on February 6th last year.

External cybersecurity experts have determined there was an unauthorized acquisition of a limited amount of data.

Letters have gone out to impacted parties, including former students and employees at the school districts.

ARCC is offering a free 1-year membership in identity theft protection services.

A statement from them said, “We sincerely regret any concern caused by this incident, and we remain fully committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information in our possession and have taken many precautions to safeguard it.”

There is also a hotline: 1-888-400-2946. It’s staffed Monday-Friday, 9am-9pm Eastern Time.
