Lake Superior Ice festival wraps up on another icy Saturday

The annual two-day Lake Superior Ice Festival wrapped up Saturday, still drawing in folks regardless of the cold temperatures.

The festival took place on Barker’s Island with events spread all over. Including tons of outdoor activates, an ice themed kid’s zone, and a craft fair in the Barker’s Island Inn.

Jenny Emmes, who was visiting Superior, praised how close together everything was. “This event is great, it’s family orientated and it’s close to walking distance for the east end”, she said.

The famous ice carousel was also on display. Workers cut a circle out of the frozen lake and spin it like a carousel for people to ride on.

And a few lucky people got to ride in a hot air balloon! Riding high in the sky while bundled up for the cold.
