Lake Superior Ice Festival kicks off, mascot named

The Lake Superior Ice Festival kicked off on Barkers Island in Superior on Friday.

During opening events, the name for this year’s Polar Bear mascot was revealed to be Blizzy.

The festival includes a kubb tournament, ice sculptors, sledding, disc golf, and more.

General parking is available on the hill at the entry point of Barkers Island and attendance to the festival is free.

Food and beverages are available for purchase at the festival as well.

The Ice Festival runs through Saturday, January 27.
