Justin Liles: Tracking a few things this week

As we begin a new work week, we are tracking mainly three things in the weather department. First, there doesn’t look to be any major shower activity this week to help alleviate the current drought the Northland is experiencing. We need to see a good week of solid moisture to really put a dent into our current dry weather. Temperatures won’t help this week as highs climb into the 90s all over by the weekend.

Secondly, the only showers in the forecast will come Wednesday night into Thursday with a passing cold front. A few storms could become strong to severe, capable of producing damaging wind gusts to 60 mph and hail of 1″ in diameter. While things can change between now and Wednesday, this will be a day to keep an eye on.

Finally, by the end of the week a giant ridge of warm air is set to take over the middle third of the country. Not only will be hot, but it will be humid too. The hot & humid weather looks to stick around into next week.
