Justin Liles: Isolated Thunderstorms Tonight

May 7th: Showers and fog tonight

Showers and fog tonight

Early morning showers won’t be the end of our rain activity this evening. Isolated thunderstorms are expected to pop up around the region. Heavier downpours along with lighting and thunder will be found with the larger storm clusters. These storms will likely be through east central Minnesota and west central Wisconsin. The southern part of Burnett, Washburn, and Sawyer Counties could see some isolated severe storms on the weaker end. Meaning some hail and winds over 50mph with harder rains.

Following tonight’s thunderstorms thicker fog is set to settle in behind them. The thickest fog will likely be near the shorelines of Lake Superior Wednesday morning. There is also a chance of seeing some frost developing up north and through out the arrowhead the rest of the week.

If you have begun planting, you may want to cover your plants. Rain will linger around the region the first half of Wednesday. Winds will continue to be cooler off the lake until Friday. We will see sun on Thursday but with a shifting wind on Friday, another round of rain is likely. Temperatures look pleasant this weekend with sunshine and scattered showers for the Minnesota fishing opener.
