Warning: High risk of dangerous rip currents for Park Point beaches

The Duluth Fire Department has issued a warning for dangerous swimming conditions for Park Point beaches effective immediately and until 10:00 a.m. tomorrow due to today’s High Risk of Rip Currents.

This warning means that wind and wave conditions can support rip currents which can be life-threatening to anyone entering the water.

Authorities say you should stay out of the water regardless of your swimming experience and be advised that even calm waters after storm activity can support rip currents, so wait for warnings to expire.

Red flags are flying along the beach to indicate dangerous swimming conditions. Flag locations are: South Pier (South of Lift Bridge), 12th St beach, Lafayette Park, and two locations at Park Point beach.
