Hibbing man pleads guilty to manslaughter

A Hibbing man is now taking responsibility for the death of his girlfriend.

According to the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office, Eric James Jarvis pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Authorities said the 47-year-old killed Kari Jo Petrich back in June of 2022.

The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office said in a statement that it extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kari Jo Petrich and hopes this resolution will provide them with some amount of closure in the tragic loss of their loved one.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant County Attorney Tyler Kenefick.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 14th at 3:30pm. Jarvis’ sentence is expected to be about 8 years.
