Hermantown traffic stop results in felony firearm arrest, meth found

One person is in custody, for what police say is a felony firearm arrest following a traffic stop on Miller Trunk Highway earlier Tuesday morning.

According to a post on the Hermantown Police Department Facebook page, officers noticed a sport motorcycle driving on Miller Trunk Highway just after midnight on Tuesday. Police say the motorcycle did not have a license plate displayed, so officers conducted a traffic stop and found the motorcycle had been stolen.

The driver was arrested after a brief struggle and taken into custody. Authorities say they found a handgun with an extended magazine, switch blade, brass knuckles, and almost 40 grams of methamphetamine with the driver.

The driver had been previously convicted for multiple crimes of violence and felonies, according to Hermantown Police.
