Mount Iron-Buhl high school girls’ basketball team received a heartwarming welcome from the community Saturday as more than five local fire departments escorted the basketball team after winning the Class A state tournament back home.

Head Coach of Boys’ and Girls’ basketball at MIB, Jeff Buffetta, talked more about the heartwarming welcome back home. “It’s exciting to see everybody, all the local fire trucks and all the departments get together. It was pretty neat to see the whole, local area get involved, not just Mount Iron. And I think the team was pretty much embraced by everybody. And I think everybody wanted them to be successful this week.” Buffetta said.

Coach Bufetta also talked about how excited the girls were seeing the welcome from the community. “I think actually their ability to have fun throughout these tough moments, I think really paid off for them.” Buffetta said. “Section seven is normally not looked upon too highly around the state. But this year, with our football team and our girls basketball team taking home state titles, I think Section seven is more and more on the map and this school this year is proof.”
