A Superior based parent focused support group for families who have children with a diverse set of needs. Let us introduce you to ConnectSPED.

“As a former educator who now has spent the last nine years working in a nonprofit doing advocacy work, it just felt very intuitive for me to help meet that need and know in my day to day work how important it is for people to connect with others and not be alone in their journey,” says Lisa Peterson, one of the founders of the group.

The parent-led support group has a simple mission. To unite, support, and educate families of children with unique abilities and educational needs to assist every family to reach their highest potential. Peterson made it clear, it is an inclusive space, one where parents can come ask questions, share experiences, and most importantly learn together.

“As a former educator who now has spent the last nine years working in a nonprofit doing advocacy work, it just felt very intuitive for me to help meet that need and know in my day to day work how important it is for people to connect with others and not be alone in their journey,” continues Peterson.

Peterson along with the other founders each have a personal connection to the subject, as parents, siblings and teachers of students with diverse needs, they know the hurdles families can face. “It’s okay to be exactly who you are, that your condition, your diagnosis doesn’t define you. And it’s part of you, but it doesn’t ultimately define you. And there’s a lot of strength that comes from knowing there are other people that recognize and understand your experience,” finishes Peterson.
