College athletes are excited to have a new permanent space dedicated to their Men and Women’s soccer team. The new Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium will also be used by their outdoor track and field team.

UWS Chancellor Renee Wachter, said the stadium funded by Superior Choice Credit Union will set a new standard for excellence in athletics.

“Their commitment to our university and its students extends beyond the naming rights of this stadium,” Wachter said. “It encompasses vital initiatives such as financial literacy program for our student athletes and support for community-based programs benefiting our youth. We are grateful for their support.”

The construction is expected to finish in August of this year. Tim Foster, the president of Superior Choice Credit Union, said this project has been in the works for several years.

“This was a conversation that took place a few years ago. It started when really Renee, the chancellor, decided to share her vision with us for a new stadium,” Foster said. “That really was a Kickstarter project for not only UWS, but the community as a whole.”

Foster also said supporting UWS with funding the new stadium was a no-brainer. He said they wanted to help invest in the community of Superior.

“Let’s make an impact. Let’s create opportunity in this community. So we’re very excited to see what the future holds. Thank you for allowing us to partner on this project,” Foster said. “It’s a huge, huge opportunity, not just for the students, not just for the for the university, but for the community. I mean that. It’s going to be something really cool to see.”
