In a back and forth game, it was Grand Rapids who came out on top to claim the Section 7AA championship for the first time since 2017, beating Andover 3-2 in double overtime.

Just about eight minutes into the first period, it was Keaton Coe who put Andover on the board. Coe also scored in the section semifinals against Rock Ridge.

To the second, it was Brooks Cogswell who scored in the first minute of the second period to extend Andover’s lead to 2-0.

Just minutes later, Grand Rapids’ Gus Drennen cut the deficit to 2-1 when he found the back of the net.

Neither team scored the rest of the second period, but to start the third, Seth Carlson knotted the game up at 2-2 just 40 seconds into the period.

The game came down to double overtime, and in that, the puck rattled loose and crossed the goal line to give the Thunderhawks the lead.

Seth Carlson was credited with the game winning goal, and he also added the game-tying goal.
