Fond Du Lac Tribal and Community College pins new nurses in special ceremony

Fond Du Lac Tribal and Community College hosted their 2024 Associate Degree Nursing Program Pinning Ceremony on Wednesday evening.

Eight students were candidates for the Associate Degree in Nursing this year.

Friends and family of the nursing graduates were invited to attend the event in the college’s commons.

Guests were treated to a short program prior to the pinning ceremony where they could hear from faculty members and students about their experiences in the Nursing program.

Tami Matuszak, Interim Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, gave the opening address.

“It’s been really great to have them in the program and working through the past couple of years and reaching this milestone is such an important thing,” said Matuszak. “You know, there’s a nursing shortage that’s out there and to have these graduates be at that point to where they’re ready to go take care of patients, I’m just very proud of them.”

Student speeches were given by Catherine DuBois and Alexander Switzer and Karen Lilyquist and Chelsea Salzer were faculty speakers at the ceremony.

FDLTCC president Anita Hanson offered her congratulations to students as well. Guests were also treated to an opening pipe ceremony, performed by Roxanne DeLille, Dean of Indigenous and Academic Affairs. Drums for the event were provided by the college’s drum, Debwewidam.
