Fire damages Superior mobile home

The Superior Fire department responded to a structure fire Wednesday afternoon on the 3100 block of East 5th St.  The initial crew on-scene found smoke and flames visible from an occupied mobile home.  The lone occupant had exited the home along with her pets.  Crews deployed a hose line and were able to extinguish the main body of fire quickly.  Due to a heavy fuel load and extensive overhaul operations crews remained on scene for approximately two hours. A total of 10 Superior Fire personnel were on scene with additional personnel called in to cover the city.

The mobile home was left uninhabitable due to heat and smoke damage throughout. The total loss stands at approximately $30,000.00.  No civilian or firefighter injuries occurred.

The occupant did state that a working smoke detector alerted her to the fire.

The Superior Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Superior Police Department, Public Works, and Mayo Ambulance.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by both Fire and Police Department investigators.  The occupant is being assisted by family members.
