Fire crews respond to the Cherry School after smoke filled two classrooms

Multiple fire crews responded to the Cherry School on Friday afternoon.

According to the Northland Fire Wire, officials determined there wasn’t a fire and that a downed power line may have caused a power surge.

That power surge resulted in the malfunction of an air handling unit at the school. Two classrooms filled with smoke.

All students and faculty evacuated safely, and there were no injuries.

Responding departments include: Cherry, Clinton, Toivola and Kelsey.
