You may want to stop by the beer garden at the Itasca County Fair this weekend.

Veterans from the American Legion Post 476 in Lawrence Lake would like you to try the beer they brewed and bottled themselves at Warrior Brewing.

“It was really cool. We really enjoyed it. We had our members and Sons of the Legion and some wives come down. Along with the fun, it also brings awareness,” Peter Dubey, the Commander of Post 476.

He said another leader called it a ‘Thank you for your service’ in a bottle, since buying the beer leads to proceeds for other Legion programs.

Warrior Brewing, which is veteran-owned, started this new program, which brings in American Legions to brew their own beer.

Co-owner Matt Caple told us that each post makes a custom label for the beer as well. “We’ve had five posts come through already, and would like to see this continue. Even have one post a week,” Caple said.
