The Ely Winter Festival kicked off on Thursday and runs through Sunday, February 11.

Shauna Vega, the festival coordinator, said despite warm temperatures the only event that had to be cancelled this year is the Amateur Snow Sculpting Competition.

Vega also said that thanks to many in the community, they were still able to assemble enough snow for the professional snow sculptors.

This year’s events include a a variety of live music, aU.S. Mölkky Winter Championship, the Ely Film Festival, and much more.
