For those interested in understanding police operations, the Duluth Police Department is looking for 25 people to attend the 2023 Citizen Police Academy.
The academy happens every Wednesday from March 8 until May 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
DPD says the Academy offers citizens both in-field and in-classroom training on different tactics, operations, and divisions within the Department. DPD’s goal is to unite citizens and police officers, working together to create a safe Duluth for everyone.
“The Citizen Police Academy is a great way to foster relationships between the community and our officers,” shared Chief Mike Ceynowa in a press release. “It gives attendees the opportunity to get hands-on experience and understanding about daily functions at DPD.”
Those accepted into the 2023 Citizen Police Academy will be contacted in mid-February with more details.
Duluth Police has more information on the Academy and the application on their website.
