Duluth teen launches shoe drive to help homeless who end up at the hospitals

Gabby Pipho is collecting shoes for the homeless who end up as patients in the hospital.

Gabby Pipho is excited about her first shoe drive. She’s already well on her way to the 100 pairs she wants to collect.

The 8th grader at Marshall decided to launch this drive after hearing that the hospitals in Duluth have closets of clothing and items for people who are homeless. And the shoes are a hot commodity.

“I want everyone who comes to the hospital to leave with good footwear. I want them to be safe,” she told us. “I’ve been to Belize on mission trips and know what can happen if you get infections in your feet.”

Through April 15th, you can drop off a pair at her house or buy them through Amazon Gift List.

Men’s sizes 9-11 are definitely the most needed.

Gabby and her mom, Amy, are also putting together care packages to put in the shoes as well.
