Duluth nurse elected president of statewide union

Chris Rubesch, a nurse at Essentia Health in Duluth, was recently elected president of the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA).

He will take office on Jan. 1, 2024, and replace Mary Turner, who has served two four-year terms in the position.

“The corporate policies pushed by our hospital CEOs are hurting nurses and patients at the bedside, driving nurses out of the profession, increasing prices, and limiting access for those in need of care,” he said in a press release. “I am ready to work to educate, engage and empower nurses for the fight ahead against corporate greed in our healthcare system.”

Rubesch is a cardiac nurse at Essentia and was part of the MNA negotiating team in 2019 and 2022.
