Duluth Finnish community celebrates Kalevala Day

Ladies of Kaleva Aallottaren Tupa #15 hosted their annual Kalevala Day on Sunday afternoon. Kalevala Day is one of the Finnish Culture Days celebrated in Finland on February 28th.  The event hosted a variety of activities including live music from local artists June Randall and Debbie Slygh and traditional Finnish dishes. Attendees could also enjoy a presentation by Chelsey Miller about her Sami collection and a recent trip to Finland. Authors Russell Mattson and Sheila Packa were also there to answer questions and share their experiences in the community.

The event also serves as the Ladies of Kaleva Aallottaren Tupa #15’s annual fundraiser. Guests could donate through gift baskets, baked goods, and gently used items.
